Travel can be a great teacher, turning even seasoned professionals into awestruck students. Surinder’s story is the perfect example of this axiom. Traveling through South India, he found himself mesmerized by the brass figurines he encountered in the temples and palaces. It was as if he had found his calling and he decided to spend the rest of his life in close relationship with this art-form. He spent countless hours learning to mold this metal, in constant pursuit of the perfection he had witnessed on this travels. Years later, it was this precision, passion, and persistence that resulted in him being awarded the National Award for Brass Engravings in 2009.
